      Neal J. Schneider was commissioned a 2ndLt through the PLC program after attending Camp Upshur as a JR PLC in 1965. In 1967 attended the SR PLC at the Annex at Quantico and was commissioned on 2 June 1968. A graduate of the Basic School and The Field Artillery Officers Basic Course and upon graduation was sent to Staging Battalion at Camp Pendleton for further transfer to West Pac. Assigned to 11th Marines in RVN from Mar 1970 to Mar 1971. Returned to Camp Pendleton as the X/O of HQ 1/12 and then the 5th MAB was renamed 1st Marine Division. Became the X/O of HQ 3/11 then the C/O HQ 3/11. After that was assigned to Hotel Battery 3/11 as AXO and then HQ 3/11 as the S3A..Reassigned to 1st Marine Brigade as Assistant Fire Support Coordinator and promoted to Captain on 1 Mar 72. Returned to RVN for sixty days in April/May 1972 to work with an ARVN BN. , At the conclusion of the 60 days I returned to 11th Marines and released from active duty on 30 June 1972.
      In 1972 Joined E 2/14 as AXO and 107mm Mortar platoon Commander. Moved to Pensacola in 1974 and Joined CO A (-) 4th Amtrak Bn as Track Officer and Tracked Vehicle Maintenance Officer. Final Marine Corps billet was the 4th Marine Air Wing Logistics Officer, responsible for the Embarkation section of the MORDT team
